So I'm updating my review because it is absolutely necessary. The customer service in handling my issues was nothing short of wonderful.
I contacted Aurorae as suggested by their comment and a new backpack was shipped to me within a few days. I've had it for over a month now and I have to say I am seriously impressed. I really must have had a defective bag. I say this because I have put this new one through way more tests than the last. I manage to shove my huge Nalgene water bottle in the still very small pocket, and it fits! With no tears after a month. I've also loaded it up with lots of heavy materials (college books, changes of clothes, lunch box) and it hasn't failed me yet. I'm very pleased.
I sincerely appreciate the customer service that was provided. I would absolutely order this bag again if down the line I break it (because at this point it would totally be my fault) and would definitely check out their other products. This bag is perfect and customer service is fantastic.
----------
Pros: Spacious, lots of pockets, fits well on body
Cons: Very cheaply made, not durable, shifts easily around torso when biking even when strapped tightly
I love this bag so much. I got it as a new backpack for school three months ago since I've been taking cycling commuting more seriously. It has all the perfect pockets and key ring and when I do want to strap my yoga mat in, the job is done well. It fits a lot more than you would expect. I carry a huge binder, a kindle and give or take a few text books on a regular basis. Sometimes more, such as a change of clothes, a lunch box and other items. And that's just the main pocket! The back pocket I usually put a phone charger and my U-lock. The large flap pocket I put a bunch of school items like calculators. The front small pocket is for pens and pencils. The only pocket I'm not a fan of is the smaller side one for water bottles. I usually end up putting my Nalgene bottle where the yoga mat is supposed to be because I can't imagine even fitting a soda can in the other one.
However! This bag is very cheaply made. Within the first few weeks I saw the stitches being visibly pulled and I was afraid they would break. Especially the main pocket zipper. I'm very cautious not to over stuff the bag and shift the weight so that the fabric isn't too stretched. The zipper on the flap pocket completely came off, the top part of the zipper just became non existent. I didn't want to accept the backpack was falling apart so I got velcro for the flap. It's not working out so great. The water bottle pocket despite not being used much, has somehow forced the zipper to separate from the backpack making a hole on the bottom.
I want to love this backpack more than anything (when I first got it I was convinced it was the best thing I'd ever bought!). I'm so afraid it will fall apart before the end of the semester. Considering this is considered a fitness bag, I'd expect it to be a little more durable. One might say that I am too rough with the bag. This may be the case, but honestly the tears and issues I've had were in places I was not expecting at all. If Aurorae comes out with a more durable version that's been seriously put to the test, I'll absolutely buy another one. But for now, I'll just have to try to sew the hole and deal with the velcro replacement.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2016Color: PurpleVerified PurchaseI did a lot of searching for a yoga/gym bag that was light, compact yet with lots of room for all of my stuff for before work yoga/gym sessions, and wouldn't slip over my shoulder (don't you hate when shoulder bags keep slipping off your shoulder, and you either have to hold it with multiple hands or walk like the hunchback of Notre Dame to keep it on?). Well, this is it! Most other bags (even 'high quality/expensive' companies) had so-so or extremely positive/negative reviews, illogical design, wouldn't fit my rolled-up mat, or positioned the matt that made no sense (like completely horizontal along the bottom or top), especially for cramped public transportation (i.e. NYC subway).
I've been raving about this bag to all my coworkers and friends; plus, the customer service is great! The first bag that shipped had a defect on one of the buttons, and both Dennis (CEO) and Michael (Dir. of Product Development) immediately got back to me to help diagnose the issue and replace the bag. 2nd bag that came through from Amazon was perfect, and I'm using it almost every day! I haven't noticed anything that may break from wear/tear, it seems very well-made (other than the fluke in the first one I received).
The sling cross-body design fits snugly across my body, and the buckle can be easily un-snapped in case you don't want to keep loosening/tightening the strap to take on/off over your head (which is nice for women who do their hair, etc.), or can get awkward. Plus, loads of compartments and other zippers/buckles that were ingenious to add as part of the design. When you don't want to put your mat in the side pocket, it's easy to tighten up those straps and clip up the bottom mesh part so it's out of the way. I've already used this as a regular 'backpack' as well, to transport odds and ends back and forth from my office. Since I'm usually carrying 2-3 bags every day (don't get me started), this bag has been so helpful and convenient to reduce that number to 1 (besides my purse), so I'm not a 'bag lady' haha.
SO - not only does it look nice (without being overly branded or with crazy patterns), but it's completely FUNCTIONAL and well-designed! It's obvious that a lot of thought and effort went into the making of this product. Based on the customer service and how much I love this product so far, I'm also very keen on trying the other Aurorae yoga products!

4.0 out of 5 stars sympa et pratique
