- Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2024Size: 51 mmStyle: Pro SapphireColor: Carbon Gray DLC Titanium with Blk BandVerified PurchaseI was holding onto my Garmin Fenix 5X waiting for a watch with enough new features to justify upgrading. I skipped the Fenix 6 and watched as the Fenix 7 came along. With the new AMOLED display in the Epic thought maybe this would be the time.
The clincher for me was moving to a job where I could wear the watch all day, plus the recent price drop for the holidays.
I opted for the Epix Pro Sapphire 51mm due to the larger batter and extended life. I have a large enough wrist that the smaller watches seem too dainty, anyway.
The watch features are amazing. The addition of blood oxygen monitoring alone has been worth the price of admission. I am able to get much better insight into my sleep quality and struggles with obstructive sleep apnea.
The EEG is also an amazing capability to have on your wrist.
I’ve noticed the processor response times are faster than my older 5X.
I’ve yet to use some of the features like onboard music and Garmin pay.
Just an amazing and gorgeous watch.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2024Size: 51 mmStyle: Pro SapphireColor: Carbon Gray DLC Titanium with Blk BandVerified PurchaseReally an amazing piece of machinery. Huge battery, built in flashlight (that I use pretty regularly), tons of info and even apps at your fingertips.
Two things it does NOT have: 1. microphone / speaker: you cannot make or receive phone calls, and it cannot make any sound. This is due to the fact that it is really waterproof down to 50 meters or something like that, so it can't have any open ports like a speaker or mic.
2. it will NOT measure your VO2max, unless you run at 70% of your max heart rate for 10 minutes. I'm too big and old to run like that, so it doesn't measure my VO2max. A bit of a disappointment since my earlier fitbit would do that.
I really do love it and plan to keep it, but also it is a bit of "power tool" for fitness enthusiasts and doesn't do a couple of the more common smartwatch features that you might expect.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 18, 2023Size: 51 mmStyle: Pro SapphireColor: Carbon Gray DLC Titanium with Blk BandVerified PurchaseI struggled with buying this watch because of the cost but ultimately I couldn't help myself. I am so glad I did. I've never owned a watch that is so useful beyond telling time. The flashlight. The weather. Sleep patterns. Heart rate. Step counting. GPS. Compass. Plus much more. Admittedly there's a learning curve to using all the features but once you get the hang of it,there's a logic to accessing and editing features.
The battery life on the 51 is phenomenal. I have a Casio ProTrek and that requires a daily charge . The Garmin will go for almost 2 weeks between charges, depending on the features you actively use.
Obviously it's a handsome watch and so far the titanium watch and sapphire glass has held up with no scratches. I like being able to customize the watch faces too to reflect different data fields or just more appealing face/colors.
I highly recommend the watch if you're comfortable spending such a large amount.
It's also the most comfortable watch I've ever worn.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2023Size: 51 mmStyle: Pro SapphireColor: Carbon Gray DLC Titanium with Blk BandVerified PurchaseAs a long time Garmin user I must say this Epix 51mm is amazing. I've owned the Fenix 3HR, 6X and 7X. All were fantastic watches in their own ways. I always wanted the 51mm size in AMOLED, and now the Epix offers that. The battery life is simply amazing and in smart watch mode, I get longer life than my 7X. The screen is AMAZING much like an Apple Watch or Samsung watch. This is NOT a smart watch in the sense of Apple or Samsung. This is a fitness/outdoor watch. You're not going to make phone calls, watch videos etc on this watch. This is geared for folks who value health metrics. Overall, I'd say this watch is the best Garmin has to offer. The new HR appears better than the older generation. It's able to lock on and read HR during strength training workouts. The older models struggled in that area like most wrist based HRM. Steady state cardio workouts, the HRM is spot on! It's an expensive watch, but worth every penny in my opinion. The maps are absolutely detailed and MUCH easier to read when compared to a MIP display offered in the Fenix series.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2024Size: 51 mmStyle: Pro SapphireColor: Carbon Gray DLC Titanium with Blk BandVerified PurchaseI recently purchased the Garmin Epix Pro, and I couldn’t be happier with my choice! As an avid kayaker, I finally have a reliable way to track my kayaking trips and walks accurately. This watch has been a game-changer for my outdoor activities.
The Garmin Epix Pro’s performance has exceeded my expectations. I was able to track 12 different activities, and to my amazement, I still had 5 days left of battery charge. This impressive battery life means I can focus on my adventures without constantly worrying about recharging.
The GPS accuracy and activity tracking features are top-notch, providing detailed insights and data that help me monitor my progress and improve my performance. The watch is also comfortable to wear and built to withstand the rigors of outdoor activities, making it perfect for my frequent kayaking sessions.
Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the Garmin Epix Pro. It has enhanced my outdoor experiences, making tracking my activities easier and more enjoyable. I highly recommend this watch to anyone looking for a reliable and high-performance activity tracker.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Fitness Tracker That Thinks ‘Error’ is a Training Mode
Size: 51 mmStyle: Pro SapphireColor: Carbon Gray DLC Titanium with Blk BandVerified PurchaseThe Garmin EPIX Pro 2—your passport to explorations and letdowns. It's like that friend who boasts about their sense of direction but, when push comes to shove, can't lead a group out of the kitchen and into the living room. Would you trust the EPIX Pro 2 to deliver an accurate breadcrumb trail when the trail turns deceptive?
At first, it appears to be a thing of beauty. A timepiece that seems ready to conquer Everest while you are merely trying to endure a grocery run. It has all the looks and well, all the moves, making you feel as if you are on the fast track to fitness nirvana. But! Just like my last three relationships, it is threatening to dissolve into chaos.
The watch is crammed with features that promise to monitor everything from your heart rate to your deep-seated anxieties. And while it could've been the ultimate companion for your outdoor beatdowns, the software sucks harder than my caffeine-addled brain did the morning after last night's debauchery. It might as well have a "self-sabotage" mode built in—one minute, you're between reps, and the next, it's convinced you're basking in the afterglow of the worst decision you've ever made.
Now let's discuss those little insects. If I wanted to witness something going south, I could just rewatch my dating life. The loyal and trusted workout "Companions" were obstinate misfit strangers—invited guests at my unfit funeral. They were party poopers, repeatedly stalling in mid-movement, losing GPS signals as if they were disillusioned with relationships, and attacking my fitness goals when I was down on my knees in some kind of strange personal fitness prayer. It was trying to hide in plain sight if it ever did in fact function successfully. Returning these ardent workout "companions" began to feel like Turkey's recent escape from the EU: a necessity for survival and a series of steps that, in hindsight, felt damn good.
To sum up, the Garmin EPIX Pro 2 could be great if it only could get its act together. Until then, it's just another reminder that sometimes, even the most promising tech can end in disaster. If you enjoy the unpredictability of living on the edge and don't mind a tech abyss, you might enjoy this. Otherwise, save your heart and look for something that can promise you tech excitement with less risk.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excelente reloj para monitorear el desempeño deportivo.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!
Size: 51 mmStyle: Pro SapphireColor: Carbon Gray DLC Titanium with Blk BandVerified PurchaseThe Garmin Epix Pro (Gen 2) Sapphire Edition is the epitome of a high-performance smartwatch that seamlessly blends cutting-edge technology with rugged durability. From the moment I strapped it on, I knew this was not just any smartwatch—it's a game-changer.
Firstly, the 51mm display is breathtaking. Crystal-clear and responsive, it provides an immersive experience whether I'm checking notifications or navigating through various activities. The Sapphire Edition ensures durability, and I haven't seen a scratch despite my adventurous lifestyle.
The advanced training technology is a fitness enthusiast's dream. It accurately tracks every aspect of my workouts, from heart rate to oxygen levels, and even monitors my stress levels throughout the day. The insights provided have truly helped me optimize my training regimen.
But what truly sets the Epix Pro apart is its versatility. Whether I'm hiking in the wilderness or running in the urban jungle, the built-in flashlight has been an unexpected yet invaluable feature. It's come in handy more times than I can count, providing a reliable source of light during unexpected moments.
The battery life is impressive, lasting through my longest adventures without skipping a beat. Plus, the multitude of downloadable maps and the ability to sync routes from my phone have been lifesavers on more than one occasion.
The build quality is top-notch, surviving drops, bumps, and various weather conditions without any issues. And the intuitive interface makes navigating through its plethora of features a breeze.
Overall, the Garmin Epix Pro (Gen 2) Sapphire Edition is more than just a smartwatch; it's a companion built for the toughest challenges. Whether you're a fitness enthusiast, an outdoor explorer, or simply someone who values technology that keeps up with their lifestyle, this smartwatch is an investment worth every penny.

5.0 out of 5 stars When you want to use a grown up watch!
Size: 51 mmStyle: Pro SapphireColor: Carbon Gray DLC Titanium with Blk BandVerified PurchaseI am a bit of a sucker for gadgets and I like having the latest gadgets! I have the Garmin Fenix 6x Pro Sapphire, and it has been terrific. My biggest gripe with the watch is the dull screen display due to the MIPS, however the benefit is in direct sunlight it is really good and saves battery.
I upgraded to the Garmin Epix Gen 2 51mm Sapphire for a couple of reasons:
-a brighter display, Amoled
-better battery
-included flashlight (so handy)
After using the watch for near a month, here are my take aways (again I am comparing to a Samsung Galaxy smart watch and a Garmin Fenix 6X Pro Sapphire)
-Incredible battery life. I would not have believed this battery life, but it is incredible. I have done 8 14KM bike rides, sleep with the watch every night and wear all day. I am at 52% battery life after 14 days on this charge. My Fenix 6x would last 6 or 7 days with this use, or be around 20% so I started getting battery anxiety. Really incredible.
-The screen. So I was tempted to go for the Fenix 7X Pro Sapphire with the improved MIPS screen, and reading how some people said the Amoled was no good in the sun. The Amoled is no issue for me outside, this includes golfing and riding my mountain bike. I repeat, no issue. I even have always on display and this is not issue, again withe excellent battery life. I have read some reviews where people commented that the MIPS is nice to look at the screen and not have to gesture the screen on, I do agree with this as this is possible, however with AOD this problem is mostly solved. The brightness and crispness of the Amoled display, in my case far outweighs any perceived negatives with the Amoled. It is clearer, crisper and brighter. You are able to register and recognize the time very quickly. I would have an extremely difficult time going back to MIPS. The only downside on a straight up comparison is that scrolling through menus when in the settings takes slightly longer as the screen has more data points to fill, again if you are constantly changing settings, then this may be an issue.
-Other bonuses, the flashlight is just really handy, I did not think it would be that cool, useful. The improved metrics are noticeable, I have worn all 3 watches and this appears to be the most accurate and quickest on GPS. The Titanium back is a must.
I cannot say if this is worth the price of an upgrade, it all depends on your finances, what you value and what matters. To me it is worth it, to someone else it may not be.
