Situated in an historic farmhouse along US4 and just outside Woodstock, Vermont, the Lincoln Inn At The Covered Bridge was a step back to an easier time and a very pleasant surprise. The place radiated coziness, from the dining rooms, to the library, to the very comfortable guest rooms. We arrived at dusk, and Mara, the hostess, could not have been more welcoming, providing a brief tour before showing us to our room. While we opted to try out a restaurant in town for dinner, the inn provides an evening meal, by way of a single seating, that enjoys an excellent reputation, and gave us something to think about around a possible return visit. We returned from dinner rested and ready to read in the snug, well-stocked library. Next morning, a walk on the grounds and a stop at the adjacent covered bridge invigorated us before heading to the breakfast room for a made-to-order repast. We'll most certainly consider a return. NB: We think the Inn a more suitable for couples and those with older (upper teens) children.
