The hotel is centrally located within walking distance of all main attractions. I understand that it is an old building that has been rather recently refurbished to a modern standard. The room was reasonably comfortable, although we found it rather small for being classified as a "junior suite". The quality of service was in certain areas compromised, however all hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful which compensated for some of the shortcomings.

On the ground floor is the oldest part of the building, which includes a shop selling Castelbel products, as well as hotel souvenirs. The friendly front desk staff is available to assist guests 24 hours per day, including booking exclusive city tours. Laundry, dry cleaning and ironing services are provided, upon an extra charge. Rossio Square is an 8-minute walk from the hotel, while Chiado and its famed shops and cafés is within a 4-minute walk. Bairro Alto, Lisbon’s premier nightlife area, is a 10-minute walk away and also has an assortment of shops and restaurants. The Baixa/Chiado Metro Station is just 350 metres away and connects with most of the city’s more renowned areas. Lisbon International Airport is 7.6 km from AlmaLusa Baixa/Chiado, and is also accessible via metro.
