When Mateo Schapiro first arrived in El Salvador, it was en route to Costa Rica. He never made it to Costa Rica. Instead, he kept returning to the same slice of land in El Zonte, a relaxed coastal town renowned for its breaks and black sand beaches. He hung up a hammock between two palm trees at night and spent his days surfing. But his love for the community and area grew, and he wanted to create a property that evoked that spirit of ease, freedom, and play to welcome others to El Zonte.

Everything at Al Suave has a story. The clay sinks are custom-made, the Tree House hammock is made from a Spanish fishing net, and the birds' nest lamps are crafted by an artist right outside of the house.
