Faster processor better quality/more durable screen than the previous model. The case for the "bigger kids" version is more slimline. In the video I show how the button covers for volume and power are not static, so taking the case off requires you to pay special attention to them and they have to be seated just so, in order for everything to be flush. This case does have cutouts on top that makes it easier to remove the kindle for cleaning. Same exact specifications for the kids edition as the adults, so if you're wanting to get into the technical side of things, take a look at the reviews on that one. This had several more steps during set up as compared to the others but we still got to the same place. As in the video if your kids profile is set up but not showing on the menu, select manage profiles, pick the kid you want to manage, then scroll down to "show profile on lock screen" and make sure that is ticked orange. This plays roblox and minecraft, YouTube, among us, all the things on the adult side of the profile. The more child like ones are available on the kids side without in app purchases, fully unlocked. There's also tons of books available over there. Id like to clarify saying the kids side does not save progress- It does but it does not carry over progress from previous device. So you will be starting over in games when you first start using this one, vs picking up where you left off on your other device. There was was point of contention with the last release about the screen, when pushing on the lcd you could clearly see the waves from the pressure; That is not an issue with this one as I pressed down fairly hard and there was no give what so ever. As with all Kindles this one comes with a 2 year replacement guarantee, no matter what's happened to it, you get 2 replacements total if needed. All you've gotta do is call Amazon and say its broken and you need to use a replacement.. super easy and painless process- Do not send the case or any chargers to them, just the kindle. You'll receive a replacement Kindle only in return. Very happy with this one as it's a welcome upgrade from last year, and with the case, year of freetime subscription, and 2 year replacement guarantee, it is always my go to when purchasing for kids. Def worth the extra price vs piecing everything out, but I removed a star for the button covers. My kids tiny fingers could probably get in there if we ever lost them, but I believe Amazon should have designed them/the case better to where they would not come out so easily.

    Honestly wanted to write a review for the parents- this is hands down the best tablet-iPad device for kids! MUCH better than an apple iPad! These tablets are specifically designed for kids with GUARDRAILS!!! There’s two options 1 for younger kids and then 1 for kids 6-12 which is what we got. Meaning it’s specifically tailored for a child!!! They put ALL the safety guardrails built into this tablet, so if they listen to music- it’s ONLY the family station- it doesn’t allow EXPLICT language or mature adult content to be streamed to this device. ONLY age approriate games, music, movies. Etc- Also the web- urgh. I do not allow my child to use the internet but for those that do this tablet is amazing becuz it has a web safety built in where it will NOT allow mature adult websites to be accessed etc or show up when browsing. Again ONLY the age appropriate content ( you can even set the age of ur child so it’s even more specific) honestly it’s MUCH better than an iPad where’s there’s absolutely no safety net built in AT ALL expect parental controls- THIS is actually built specifically for the child’s age group your buying it for. THANK YOU Amazon for making an iPad / tablet that’s specifically built for kids!!!

    However as with ALL electronic devices you should still CHECK and monitor EVERYTHING even on this. Just in case. ( you do have option of parental controls if you wanted to custom set everything including time limits, goals. Etc)

    This was our 2nd Fire for Kids (and we started with a Nabi way back). I was attracted to it because of the kid-friendly offerings built into it, the parental control, and my existing familiarity with Fire devices. It was affordable and the bumper has kept it safe for over a year. The tablet itself works great, but the Amazon Appstore didn't impress me. We already had Fire TVs and love our Prime membership, but I should have done more research about the specific apps available. There are several apps I let my child use (like a digital drawing app) that Amazon doesn't support even in parent mode. I wish I had purchased a tablet from another platform and just used Google's parental control like we have on their phone because she rarely uses this. Having said that, if you don't have specifics in mind, it is a great tablet with lots of options with the free Kids membership. I liked being able to purchase books from my Prime account and assigning them to her device.

    We bought this for one of our daughters after her old one (different brand) broke. It was so great we decided to get one for our son and donated his still working tablet to a needy family. It was good but so many adds for our at the time 1 year old. He would get so frustrated, the adds had become ridiculous. This tablet has been great for our kiddos, no adds, set up in a few minutes, able to micro manage well because well I'm a helicopter mom and unapologetic about that. My son has put his tablet through the ringer and it has still stood strong no scratches or cracks, we do have the case and a screen protector on it. The ones that came with it. Mostly they use it in our car and it hooks easily to our cars internet or the hot spot on our phones and still works great no lagging. Charge last forever, sound is very clear, and I love that even when it's not connected to the internet it has a smaller home screen only showing what they can play which is a lot still, but that way I don't hear hollering when they click on something and it doesn't work because it's not connected. Have had them 2 years and they are still in perfect condition. P.s. I apologize for my kids in the background, spring break haha🤷🏽‍♀️

    I have given my daughter Ipads in the past however they weren't kid friendly at all unless she was the only one using it. After buying this Kids tablet, I realized that there are already pre loaded games on it which were perfect and I love seeing my daughter play the variety of kid friendly games. You can have a kids profile, and an adult one. With the adult profile there is a pin so that the kids can't switch over and get into anything they aren't supposed to. The Case is super durable and stands up well on its own which is a big plus because I like for her to work on her ABC Mouse and watch other educational videos. The screen is the perfect size and when people ask me if its an ipad and I tell them that it is a kindle they are shocked and I show them this listing and rave about how good this tablet is. You can manage screen time as well, and you can delete and add which apps will be on the kids profile. I believe you can even do so through an app, which I have not had the time to use yet but I love that considering how busy life gets and how convenient that option is. If you're thinking about getting this tablet, I HIGHLY suggest doing so!
