Versatile jacket for mild-conditions

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Size Bought:
M
Height:

Weight:

This jacket is a great part of my lineup. I've used it from everything as my resort snowboarding shell, climbing, low-elevation mountaineering, and as an emergency shell. It's incredibly lightweight, and is by far the lightest jacket I own, and it packs down fairly small, making it easy to stow in my pack and pull out if needed. Despite the lack of pit zips, the jacket does breathe well in high-output activities. It's also stylish enough to look good both out in the woods and around the city. The main drawback for me is that it's definitely more of a rainshell than an alpine jacket. If I expect strong storms, I'll opt more a full 3L jacket, rather than the 2.5L of the Exposure/2 Paclite Plus. Nevertheless, if you don't plan to go venturing out into the worst environments, this jacket is a great addition to your arsenal. For context, I'd bring this jacket out with me on PNW volcanoes like St. Helens or Adams in mild/decent weather, or if I was doing multi-day treks in the Goat Rocks wilderness. I'm 5'11, 170lbs and a M fits fine. It's a true-to-size jacket, and I can fit a puffy underneath, but it would be a bit snug. It's got a bit of stretch for a hardshell, which is really nice!

Exposure /2

Solid backup; however, I'm a stickler for arm pit zip vents, and two-way front zippers! Why - cost cutting is not a valid response for long-time/loyal customers.

Great lightweight rainshell!

Awesome lightweight rain shell. Even lighter and more packable then my first Paclite shell.

Great Jacket

By far the best shell I've owned to date. Versatility, weight, packability, all are thought of when this piece was designed. Ive used this for three weeks in windy northern Alberta in conditions including snow and wind (roughly -20 Celsius) over my stretchdown and it has been a dream combo. As for the helmet-compatible hood, heres a trick for those who are having issues with the size. if you're top-layering it, and not using the hood, roll the beak into the hood of your thermal layer (my stretchdown, for example) and pull the draw. It should secure it around the hood of your thermal layer! Then throw a neck gaiter on and have the best weather seal!

Size and style

I am a 6ft male who weighs 140lbs, I got a medium and it fits great where I would normally get a large so I’d recommend sizing down. I got this for an everyday use shell and it’s worked great. I wish that the hood was a bit smaller since I am not putting a helmet in it but the back sinch helps.

Get a good rain shell.

Ultra light weight, waterproof, feels high quality and the color is very nice. As other reviewers mentioned it is designed for layering so if you’re unsure about sizing, round down.

Bad hood

This jacket was well-made and fit me however the hood was unacceptable. If you only intend to wear this jacket with a helmet or a baseball cap you might be fine. However without these the hood was so large that when you use the adjustment feature it pulls the brim completely down over your eyes. In addition this adjustment opens large gaps on both sides of the hood that can’t be closed. Going back!j
