Burgu is quaint and charming. I liked it a lot better than Valetta and definitely better than Silema. I felt like I was in a real Maltese town with the locals. There's a small pastry shop in the square that sells paztizzi for 50 cents and they were amazing. There are several nice restaurants around the square and many small shops throughout the town that sell unique, handcrafted souvenirs. Overall, I loved Birgu.

Loved this spot.
Loved this spot. Easy to get around and great locals so got a real sense of Malta. In the evening we ate around the square. Our favourite restaurants were D’Central and the Vittoriosa gastric pub. And do walk the inner streets of Birgu. Real gems.

Birgu/Vittoriosa is an amazing village, traditional and untainted by tourists. Lots of locally meet at the village square daily, where they hang out, chat, drink coffee and eat in the local pastizzeria.
Its small streets are perfect to wander through and every single building is a piece of history.

Birgu is a very pretty old neighborhood and easy to get around. Great views of Valletta and convenient to take the ferry or a water taxi to Valletta. I would definitely stay here again, over Valletta.

A peaceful part of Malta, close to Valletta.
A peaceful part of Malta, close to Valletta. Birgu itself has a lot to offer - beautiful marina, narrow streets, old buildings, a market square that's not crowded by tourists, with nice reastaurants and cafes.

The whole city is very well preserved and gets you back to the 17th century, the buildings are old and built with stone most of them restored and the streets are quite and clean. It is rewording to walk around and imagine how the life of the Knights would be like. Its residents are very friendly. There are enough restaurants and cafes in the area but the boat to Valletta runs frequently and it gets you there in 5 minutes.
