The town is very charming with lots of both local, mid range and upscale restaurants. The problem is with the roads. We drove 2 1/2 hours from Playa flamingo down the coast and fully half of that time was on rutted dirt roads. The town itself had ro ases that were worse than rutted with giant potholes sometimes two or 3 feet deep. It made us wish we had a four-wheel-drive which many of the locals drive. They called them quads, which are four wheeled ATVs. We were there in dry season so I can only imagine what happens to the roads in the rainy season. It would not be a pretty sight.

Costa Rica is a very special country, but what I like best of all in Nosara (Guiones/Pelada) are the people. Both Ticos (Costa Ricans) and expats are among the friendliest, most genuinely helpful and generous, and most laid back folks anywhere. And it is the gorgeous natural beauty and tranquility of this place that must be the cause.

Nosara is a small town and the area is not very developed.

Nosara is a small town and the area is not very developed. Driving was somewhat terrifying (more so than the zip lining, to be sure). The nature there is beautiful and preserved. I would recommend staying at a nice resort if you want to go there. There are several and this would have made our experience much better. Since we had a kitchen, we used the grocery store often. It had great products, but was not air conditioned.

Nosara is definitely a place to go if you like surfing.

Nosara is definitely a place to go if you like surfing. There are a variety of waves for all types of surfers and the beach is HUGE so there is a ton of room for all surfers. The water is warm and you can body surf, boogie board as well...you really want to be "into the ocean" to be in Nosara...we took beach cruisers from one to the other on the beach since the sand is compacted...that was a lot of fun...and a beautiful ride. People are GREAT in Nosara....we will return.

Nosara is a gorgeous little village by the beach, but it is fast changing. It is very now americanised, lots of new expensive houses are being built. Restaurants and bars are good, but more expensive than everywhere we have been in CR. Most shops, hotels bars and restaurants charge in $ (although you can pay cash in Colones). I enjoyed Nosara, the Guiones Beach is gorgeous especially at sunset, but I did not feel like I was in CR. I think Samara would have been more what I was looking for.

More expensive than the average Costa Rican town, has been developing massively in the past few years, the road access is as poor as always though. Beaches are fantastic, restaurant options are amazing (this wasn’t the case a few years ago). The Nomadic Hotel a gem.

Very beautiful resort in the middle of the jungle not far from the ocean with a clear focus on yoga and wellness. Everything what has to do with yoga is excellent - all the facilities and instructors are perfect. Yoga sessions are held minimum 3 times per day and attract many people staying in Nosara (not essentially at Bodhi Tree itself). If you do not have a car/motorbike you can get a bicycle for free to get around, which I used every day. Are not the best ones and are not looked after properly (very rusty), but worked well for me.

The staff was super welcoming and gave such a personal touch to our stay. The location by the beach (5 min jungle walk) is great and also very quiet area of Guiones beach - 8-10 min walk from all the shops and Restaurants. this allow a lot of wildlife to be explored within the resort (monkeys, iguanas, beautiful birds, etc). The surfing experience is great- excellent surf guides, my kids loved it 😍 Resturant had lots of delicious options and breakfast was great too.

This place was fantastic. The rooms are super clean and cozy. With 3 adults in one room, we felt we had plenty of space because of how large the room was. I surfed twice a day it takes only a minute or two to get to the sand. Then you have a 5 to 10 minute walk down the sand to the best place to paddle out. The property is conveniently located close to several restaurants, a surf shop, grocery, and laundry. It also felt very safe.

This experience was one for the books. I traveled to Nosara with my best friend and we had such a blast. Yan and Ryan our hosts made this the absolute best experience. They have a gorgeous therapy pool, beautiful outdoor spaces, excellent beds, wonderful AC, and delicious breakfasts. Not to mention you’re a few minutes walk from the beach. Just incredible all around. Would stay here every time I visit Nosara. Hands down.

Lovely ground floor rooms for our family of 5, located near the pool. Both clean and attractive with comfy chairs on the terrace outside. The pool area was beautiful and felt like a little oasis. Breakfasts were excellent and the evening meals very good too. Brian on reception organised surfing lessons with Nosara Surf School for our 3 teenagers which was a huge success. All in all, an excellent 2 night stay.

I’ve stayed at pretty much every Selina in the country and this is by far the best experience I’ve had. The customer service was beyond good. The facilities were incredible. Eddy from front desk was very nice. The guys from the bar always with the best attitude. Great service. I had a great time and they will definitely see me again as I’ll be going back to Selina Nosara.

I loved everything here. It was the perfect costa Rican stay. It felt like a wilderness lodge with spectacular natural grounds and view to the ocean. The pool setting was divine and breakfast remarkableAgnes’ attention to details, aesthetic, and welcoming presence was the icing on the cake. The nearby beach was the most beautiful we have found to date in Costa Rica

The location was only about 6 mins walk to the beach. You just can’t beat that kind of location. The staff was really nice, the cocktails are way better than the ones from the states. The rooms so beautiful! This place is brand new and their hard work put into it was evident. The pool was refreshing and so close to all the rooms. Fantastic boutique hotel!

I loved everything! The rooms and facilities are so beautiful and Agnes & Joe are the kindest hosts I have met. The breakfast is delicious and very personal, and lots of wildlife comes by at the breakfast table :) The horseback riding they are offering was such an amazing experience. This was the best week during my time here in Costa Rica.

The family feel to the place was so lovely, I immediately felt at home! While some may say the distance from the beach is inconvenient I felt it helped everyone bond and the pool kept us all cool! Super easy to catch tuktuks to the beach (inexpensive and not long) Lots of family meals were a huge pro and Fred was the best host - miss you!

Laid back vibe and the host is super friendly, beds are comfy and the room has fans and AC. The kitchen has anything you need to cook although due to its position on the balcony it has a lot of ants. This is a general problem in Costa Rica though and not particular of this hostel.
