Colombian producer Verraco makes heavily detailed club music fusing the complexity of IDM with elements of soca, dembow, Brazilian funk, and numerous other genres. He co-founded the Insurgentes label, which was succeeded by the equally well-regarded TraTraTrax. Grial, Verraco's debut album, appeared in 2020, but he broke through to wider acclaim with 2023's Escándaloo EP and especially 2024's Breathe... Godspeed.
Based in Medellín, Colombia, Verraco launched Insurgentes (which he co-founded with Defuse) in 2017, with the intention of challenging Western perceptions about Latin music. He provided the label's first three EPs and additionally appeared on the 2018 compilation Medellín Rave Society. He briefly relocated to Barcelona in order to study for a master's degree, and performed at Mutek in 2019. Verraco's debut album, Grial, was released in 2020. Along with Lomalinda and Nyksan, he established TraTraTrax initially as a sublabel of Insurgentes. Verraco's Escándaloo EP appeared on Voam in 2023, showcasing his audacious sound design skills while producing some of his most immediate, club-friendly tracks. Breathe... Godspeed followed on Timedance in 2024, earning the producer more widespread acclaim. ~ Paul Simpson
