Artist bios

Mandy, Indiana create harsh, abrasive post-punk influenced by industrial dance music and gritty art films. Valentine Caulfield's striking lyrics, sung entirely in French, frequently address subjects related to misogyny and power dynamics. The band released their acclaimed debut EP in 2021, and expanded their inventive, danceable sound with their 2023 full-length i've seen a way.

The group was formed in Manchester by Valentine Caulfield and Scott Fair, whose previous bands played shows together at local venues. Liam Stewart, who had toured with LoneLady, contributed percussion to the group's dissonant, driving sound. They started recording music in 2019 and released a handful of singles in 2020. Their debut EP, ..., was issued by Fire Talk in 2021, and included remixes by Daniel Avery and Club Eat. Joined by drummer Alex Macdougall and synthesizer player Simon Catling, Mandy, Indiana recorded vocals and instrumentation in unconventional spaces such as a Bristol shopping mall, a West Country cave, and a Gothic crypt. The band's debut album, i've seen a way, appeared in 2023, produced by Fair and mixed by Gilla Band's Daniel Fox and Giant Swan's Robin Stewart. ~ Paul Simpson
