- Reviewed in the United States on March 24, 2025I’ve been very pleasantly surprised by how well this tick remover has held up over tye with frequent use. Wouldn’t have expected such longevity from a seemingly flimsy plastic tool, but it has been my dog’s best friend in the deep woods.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2025This tool is the best I have found on the market! While clearing raw land in TN, our pooches became covered in ticks of all sizes regardless of our efforts to fend them off. This tool was able to get through their fur and remove hundreds of the critters without any issues. All of our previous twirly removers failed to remove any! Even gentle while removing some that found their way to sensitive spots on the humans in our group!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2023Works well. Has some nice details to it:
- Arrows at the top for the direction to twist.
- The edge of the pliers are clean cut, which isn't always common. That's nice to see.
- The clip to attach it to a shirt pocket like a pen.
Feels really sturdy. While trying to eject a tick I accidentally pulled up the top button/spring mechanisms out (held it poorly) and it snapped right back without issues. That was a nice reassurance of the quality you are buying here. I got two. Really happy. Hands down would recommend this as a reliable product.
Pulled ticks off of the dog and me without issues.
This was an upgrade from the tick tornado or whatever that green scooper is called. I like this one much better. The other device has been much harder to use with a dense coat and clean extraction.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 1, 2017I have used a similar model for more than 2 decades until I misplaced it. Thank goodness I could find a very similar model here.
A few reasons why I like this model so much;
First of all, some of these tick removers rely on pulling out the tick straight - which works out pretty bad most of the time, as it leaves part(s) of the tick remains stuck in your pet (yuk!) - possibly causing infections and such. Coghlan's Tick Remover however relies on clamping around the tick and rotating the tick remover 3 times. The tick comes out without leaving anything behind and the tick is nicely clamped so it won't get away unless you release the Tuck Remover. I have even used it on a person, and it works great and is completely painless.
The overall size of the Tick Remover is also pretty good, considering that my hands are not really small, unlike some other models at Amazon that were fragile and small.
Next, this thing is all plastic, minus the spring inside, and has proven to be very sturdy over the years. Another model I found here was made out of metal and since I clean the Tick Remover each time after use, I'd be worried about those models starting to rust over time.
Bottom line: I highly recommend getting this Tick Remover, in fact, get 2 right away ... one for at home and one for in the car.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2024Very simple to use and it worked, removing the tick, head still attached, with the recommended counterclockwise twist. Quick and easy. It’s small enough to fit in a small first aid kit or pocket.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2024This worked well to remove ticks off of my dog. Could work on a human as well. Just pinch the tick and twist and it comes right out. Works better than I expected!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 8, 2013The last few weeks have been brutal in terms of numbers of ticks. We have two short haired, indoors but spend time outdoors hiking and playing dogs (A Ridgeback and a Blackmouth Cur). Although we spend a lot of time grooming them for ticks to get them before they embed we still get a range from newly embedded, partially full and fully engorged. All smaller ticks, no full sized dog ticks. After looking at all the tick products available on Amazon I decided to order a bunch. The Tick Key, Coghlan's Tick Remover, Ticked Off, Ticklasso, and the Tick Twister.
Coghlan's was the worst of the lot. Tried on multiple ticks and it had no chance at any. Please note that all our ticks are small, maybe this works on dog ticks, but it was a complete failure on the small ones.
Of the varieties listed above Ticklasso is simply the best for removing small ticks reliably regardless of engorgement level. It takes a bit longer to get them lassoed than it takes to line up any of the grove (Tick Key, Ticked Off, Tick Twister) style removers, but they come off intact every time and once it's on none slip away. Those may be a bit faster and more effective for fully engorged ticks, but the lasso is SO much better on the not full and small ticks that it's far and away the best for us.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2023This product is not necessarily good for removing very tiny ticks. Trying to remove tiny little ticks from an adolescent cat is extremely difficult on its own never mind trying to use this particular product to do it.
I ended up getting a tiny tick on me and trying to use this product on it, no Bueno.
I’m not trying to use this on larger text since I haven’t seen any or had any since purchasing this product.
So far I’m using the old standby of narrow tipped tweezers.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you have kids / pets or like hiking and camping you need these
Simple to use sturdy claws even someone with shaking hands can operate them. I like in the south its infested this year. Managed to remove one from my daughter , three from my son and one from my wife. All ticks were still alive and were sent off for testing. Invaluable tool and the best one on the market , do not buy cheap no name brands these literally save your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dog owner must have
This product is a must have for any dog owner, bought one on the off chance and used it a fair few times already!! Easy to use on those pesky ticks

1.0 out of 5 stars Rubbish
Completely useless this just slides over the tick leaving it in place. At best it bursts the body. Waste of money. The tick remover which I had before was of a similar design but worked.
