Let off some steam in this spectacular 16th-century spa and stay late at night for a soothing take on Budapest nightlife.

Rudas Baths makes use of the city’s thermal springs for its range of spa treatments, offering luxurious packages in a historic environment. Dating back to the 16th century, the relaxing site has impressive pool buildings with saunas and other therapeutic facilities. Relax in one of the six therapy pools that pump water from Budapest’s famous mineral reserves.

Try one of the legendary cures that come from the springs of Hungária, Attila and Juventus. This water is said to possess healing properties when consumed. Enjoy a hot sauna or a steam room session before you cool down in the immersion pool. Take in views of the surrounding hills and the city from the rooftop pool. Among the highlights of Rudas Baths is the octagonal pool that resembles traditional medieval Turkish baths.

Sit in one of the spas with friends and rest your feet after sightseeing in Budapest. Get an underwater massage with a water beam. Choose from other massage options, which include aroma relaxation, skin firming and medical healing. The rooms and halls have Turkish bath features that include majestic arches and columns.

Dine at the buffet to regain your strength and energy after a day of utter relaxation. Stay late on Friday or Saturday night, when the pools remain open until the early hours of the morning.

Find out about the history of the baths, which were initially constructed in 1550 during the Ottoman Empire. The water contains calcium, magnesium and bicarbonate and is said to heal degenerative joint conditions and inflammations.

Each section has its own individual opening times. Visit most areas daily between early morning and night. Purchase a package deal that includes massage deals and swimming pool use. Certain days are specified for men or women only, while others are mixed so check the website before arriving

The Rudas Baths complex stands on the southwestern bank of the River Danube in the heart of Budapest. Take a bus to the Elisabeth Bridge and walk to reach the baths. Nearby attractions include the Liberty Statue and the citadel atop Gellért Hill.

We only took a peek to look at the architecture. It looked interesting but not for us.

You have to get the Wellness package in order to use the beautiful rooftop pool. This was a wonderful and truly relaxing experience. Loved the  saunas, steam rooms, and pools of various temperatures! Give yourself at least a couple hours here to really relax.

This is a fine place and I was told this is where the locals go.  I guess I just don't get the appeal.  It's a public pool/hottub/bath.  It's not particularly expensive, but I think $20 sit in a hot-tub with 50 other people is meh.  Some people dig the hot/cold plunge thing which I understand, but it's also not my thing.
